With more than 1.7 million viewers and 13.2% share, the Antena 3 news program toured the entire process of collecting and moving industrial oil waste from a workshop to the regeneration plant, where it is recovered to have a second life, thus being a clear example of Circular Economy.

With more than 1.7 million viewers and 13.2% share, the Antena 3 news piece began in one of the thousands of car repair shops in which this hazardous waste is collected, where they showed how it is collected and how it should be stored, before it can be subsequently transported by an authorised company to a regeneration plant. The Antena 3 cameras then moved to one of the largest regeneration plants in Spain located in the south of Madrid, in the town of Fuenlabrada, and managed by the company Sertego. Its Director, Javier Ramos, explained the process that enables the recovery of up to 27,000 tonnes of used oil per year.

On his part, the Director of Institutional Relations and Communication of SIGAUS, Fermín Martínez de Hurtado, explained to the news team how the used oil that arrives at this plant is transformed into a lubricant base to manufacture new products, thus, enabling savings in raw materials such as oil, and in polluting emissions into the atmosphere, but, above all, giving a new life to what had become waste.

Antena 3 is owned by Grupo Atresmedia, as are La Sexta, Nova, Neox, Mega and A3 Series, in addition to Onda Cero, Europa FM, and Melodía FM; it is the second most-watched network in Spain, according to data from the consulting firm specialising in the measurement of conventional TV consumption, Kantar Media. The network registered last November an average audience of almost 11%.
