1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that contain certain information about the USER's navigation through the Website. Cookies are sent to the user's browser and stored on their computer.

2. Purpose of cookies

Cookies are used to capture information about the USER's browsing, analysing this in order to find out how the USER interacts with the Website and thus, optimize the browsing experience. In no case are these cookies associated with the USER’s specific personal data, nor can the USER be identified through them.

3. Types of cookies

  • Two types of cookies can be distinguished, depending on the entity that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent and processes the data obtained:

First-party cookies: these are sent to the user's terminal from a computer or domain managed by DUET and from which the service requested by the user is provided.

Third-party cookies: these are sent to the user's terminal from a computer or domain that is not managed by DUET but by another entity which processes the data obtained from the cookies.

If the cookies are installed from a computer or domain managed by DUET but the information collected through them is managed by a third party, they cannot be considered first-party cookies.

  • There is also a second form of classification according to the period of time that they remain stored in the user's browser:

Session cookies: these are designed to collect and store data while the user is browsing a website. They are normally used to store information that is only required for the provision of the service requested by the user on that particular occasion (e.g. a list of purchased products)

Persistent cookies: these store data on the computer and can be accessed and processed during a period defined by the party responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years.

  • Finally, there is another form of classification with five types of cookies, depending on the purpose for which the data obtained is processed:

Technical cookies: these allow the user to navigate the website, platform or application and use various options and services available such as: controlling data traffic and communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted access sections, remembering the elements that are part of an order, carrying out an order purchase process, carrying out a request to register or take part in an event, using security elements during navigation, storing contents for sharing videos or sound, and sharing content through social networks.

Preference cookies: these allow the user to access the service with some pre-defined general features based on a series of criteria on the user panel such as language, type of browser used to access the service, regional settings, etc.

Analytical cookies: these allow the party responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of the users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of the websites, application or platform and for the creation of user browsing profiles for said websites, applications and platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of usage data of service users.

Advertising cookies: these enable the most effective possible management of the advertising spaces.

Behavioural advertising cookies: store information on the behaviour of users obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, from which a specific profile is created so that advertising can be displayed based on it.

Cookies from external social media: these are used so that visitors can interact with the content of different social platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and that they are generated only for the users of said social networks. The conditions of use of these cookies and the information collected are regulated by the privacy policy of the corresponding social platform.
