SIGAUS presents in ASELUBE the balance of its 10-year adventure
SIGAUS General Director, Eduardo de Lecea, participated on May 31st in the presentation of the Activity Report of the Spanish Lubricant Association (ASELUBE), looking at the different goals achieved by the Entity after a decade of work, and highlighting collaboration and team work as the keys to explain the good management results achieved. The President of ASELUBE, Carlos Giner, as well as the President of the Statistical Commission, Gabriel López, opted to work to broaden membership, to defend the quality of lubricants, and to consolidate lubricant sales growth.

The Spanish Lubricant Association (ASELUBE) presented in Madrid its 2016 Activity Report. Eduardo de Lecea, General Director of SIGAUS, took part in this event analyzing, before sector representatives, ASELUBE member companies, and media, the main aspects of SIGAUS management over its first ten years of existence.
Eduardo de Lecea pointed out the evolution of the management system over these years, its increased representativeness and process efficiency, as well as the different challenges faced along the way to adapt to changes and to the evolution of the market and the needs of member companies.
Additionally, he presented the main 2016 management figures, with 122.000 tons of waste industrial oil collected and handled last year, over 68,000 production establishments served, and 159,000 collection operations registered. All this achieved thanks to an extensive management network that operates under the umbrella of the Entity and to the joint effort of all actors involved in waste industrial oil life cycle.
This work has allowed for the collection of waste oil all over Spain, including 4,430 municipalities scattered all over the territory and that account for one quarter of all waste generated in our country.

In addition, Carlos Giner, President of ASELUBE, pointed out the intense work done in 2016 to increase membership and to improve quality of lubricants, while Gabriel López, President of the Statistical Commission, explained how numbers reached last year evidence the consolidation of a moderate lubricant sales growth, also detected during the first quarter of the present year.
Some sector information
In this line, and according to data provided by ASELUBE during this meeting, 2016 has been a positive year for the lubricant market, being this the fourth year in row that records an increase in sales. To be more specific, sales last year registered a 5.6% increase, resulting from the 401,700 tons sold. Out of this amount, the highest percentage (45%) corresponds to the sales of car engine oil, a product that experienced a 5.1% increase compared to the previous year.
