SIGAUS becomes a trending topic thanks to #1tuit1árbol

This is the first campaign that the Entity has developed exclusively for Twitter, where the first 1,000 participants won a tree in the Seventh SIGAUS Forest simply by posting a tweet with the hashtag #1tuit1árbol. The initiative, with over 3,000 participants, went viral on social media thanks to the publicity from various personalities within the environmental sector and the world of showbiz.

Last December, SIGAUS launched #1tuit1árbol, a new social media campaign designed to transmit to users the importance of taking care of the environment, as well as promoting values linked to reforestation and the compensation of emissions that lead to climate change.

#1Tuit1árbol is the first campaign by the Entity that has been exclusively designed for Twitter, where the first 1,000 participants that shared a tweet with the hashtag #1tuit1árbol and mentioning @hacesmas won a tree with their Twitter name in the Seventh SIGAUS Forest. This green space, planted by SIGAUS and located in the Madrid town of Colmenar Viejo, consists of 1,000 pine trees that will help to offset the emissions of CO2 when they reach adult age.

The website for this campaign, http://1tuit1arbol.sigaus.es/, has also been used to host the First Digital SIGAUS Forest, which has grown and been “drawn” as the users planted trees through their tweets.

The campaign managed to go viral, reaching 537,000 people, thanks to the publicity from various participants in Operación Triunfo 2018 and other personalities.

As well as winning a tree in the Seventh SIGAUS Forest and the Digital Forest, the participants in #1tuit1árbol were in the running for other prizes, such as one of the 200 cinema tickets given away during the campaign or an economic contribution of €1 to the “Genesis” project. This is a reforestation initiative in the north of Palencia that has been officially certified as a carbon capture project by the Ministry for Ecological Transition through the Office of Climate Change.

A viral campaign on social media

The results of this campaign have been quite positive as over 3,300 users participated on Twitter and 537,000 people were reached. Furthermore, the website http://1tuit1arbol.sigaus.es/ registered almost 14,000 visits, 95% of which came from mobile phones.

Also, during the first fortnight in December, the campaign went viral on social media thanks to the publicity work carried out with various participants in Operación Triunfo 2018 and other known personalities from the environmental sector and the world of showbiz. The publicity by these users on their social profiles multiplied the results of the campaign throughout Spain, even managing to make it a national trending topic, as well as helping SIGAUS to connect with a more millennial audience.
