SIGAUS publishes its 2025 Report, an interactive journey through the management of one of Spain’s most closely controlled waste streams
With this new report, SIGAUS offers a comprehensive overview of its activity during 2025 and the system's contribution to the circular economy, combining economic, environmental and social information with visual and interactive resources that allow users to consult and understand the year's key results.

The report, available at memoria2025.sigaus.es, is structured into six sections covering different aspects of SIGAUS's activity in 2025, including developments in the lubricants market, the management of industrial waste oil, communication and awareness-raising work, and social action.
As a new feature, each section opens with a brief introduction by virtual presenters, previewing some of the key figures covered in more detail later on.
Key management figures
The publication highlights the key figures from SIGAUS's management activity in 2025, which was once again #GoodNews in environmental terms, with more than 137,000 tonnes of industrial waste oil managed from 66,000 generation points throughout the territory, mainly workshops and industrial facilities, as well as many other activities. As the report points out, offering a genuinely universal service to all these establishments required 177,000 collection operations.
A significant proportion of these collections took place in rural and mountain areas and depopulated territories, where certain quantities of industrial waste oil are nevertheless generated. The report incorporates interactive maps produced using GIS technology, enabling users to visualise waste generation and the reach and density of the collection network, while also showing how the system guarantees the management of waste oil throughout the territory, including in areas with particular logistical difficulties or environmental vulnerability, e.g. due to their proximity to protected areas or water resources.

The report features a downloadable infographic with the year's key figures and interactive maps detailing waste generation throughout the territory by municipality.

The activity also delivered significant environmental benefits. Of these, 86,600 tonnes of CO₂ emissions were avoided, and products (new lubricants and BIA fuel), whose conventional manufacture would have required 33 million barrels of oil, were generated.
The report also includes a downloadable infographic bringing together the key indicators of SIGAUS's activity: from the volume of oils placed on the market and the waste generated, through to its collection and treatment, along with measures aimed at extending the service life of lubricants and the new products obtained from treating waste oil.
Real footage and avatars
The CEO's report, included in the report as a video, reviews the year's key milestones and figures. As a new feature, the video also includes contributions from the directors of SIGAUS's various areas of activity. Their real-life footage has been transformed into pencil-drawn avatars, in keeping with the overall visual style of the 2025 Report.

Eduardo de Lecea, CEO of SIGAUS, says of the publication that “in 2025 SIGAUS continued to demonstrate that the circular economy is a successful model”. De Lecea further states that “the diversity of companies that place their trust in us reflects the strength of a model based on efficiency and legal certainty, which allows us to offer a universal service in every corner of the country and which we have been able to replicate in managing professional-use packaging through GENCI”.
Communication, awareness-raising and social commitment
SIGAUS’s activity during 2025 also had a significant communications aspect, as the report shows. The entity published 5,800 social media posts, surpassed 450,000 followers across its profiles, and accumulated more than 11 million video views.
On the social front, the publication highlights initiatives such as the Aula Ambiental and Bosques SIGAUS projects, as well as collaborations with various social organisations, which round out the entity's sustainability activities.
