The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development launched by the UN cites SDG 17 as an essential Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) insofar as forging partnerships indispensable to implementing all the other SDGs. SIGAUS' engagement with lubricant manufacturers, used oil management companies and Public Administrations is essential to achieve an adequate management of this waste and that is why the Entity has chosen these partnerships as the leitmotif of its 2021 Sustainability Report, showcasing how its cooperation model promotes sustainability and the protection of our environment.

Posted online at http://memoria2021.sigaus.es, this new and now fully digital Report renders a detailed analysis of SIGAUS activities this past year, with specific sections on the lubricants market, used oil management, communications activities and CSR projects underway. This information therein is highly visual, presented through graphics, animations, infographics and other contents, all centred around the homepage video summarising the main contributions of SIGAUS in 2021. On a visual level, the Report is based on chess iconography to depict its different partnerships, where each chapter has a different piece (king, queen, bishop, knight and rook) at its head.

The prevailing leitmotif of the Report showcases how the SIGAUS cooperation model for manufacturers, management firms and public agencies promotes sustainability and the protection of our environment.

"Business cooperation seeks to generate synergies for achieving a common goal, albeit with better results than what could be achieved individually. In our case, the joint cooperation with lubricant manufacturers, management companies, public administrations and citizens makes the management of used oil an example of efficiency and sustainability", explains Eduardo de Lecea, Managing Director of SIGAUS. "That is why we wanted our 2021 Sustainability Report to highlight the value of these partnerships, revealing just how important it now is to be able to count on the vision and experience of partners capable of helping us to fulfil our own missions”.

Similar to previous years, this year’s Report was drawn up following the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the world’s most renowned standard for this type of document. Furthermore, the content of this document has been externally and independently verified by the consultancy firm EY.
