SIGAUS renews its support to social organisations for the fifth consecutive year

SIGAUS has once again renewed its support to the social organisations with which it has collaborated since 2018, and that work with groups with health problems and at risk of exclusion. Reinforcing, this year, an ongoing five-year collaboration that is aligned with its corporate social responsibility policy. After signing these new agreements with the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, Apadis and ‘Porque Viven’ Foundation, the entity will continue to support projects aimed at sick children and people with disabilities, among other sectors, through the contribution of 18,000 Euro that will be used to improve the quality of life of these groups.

“Following these two years of crisis, which have noticeably diminished the fundraising capacity of this type of entity, support like that offered by SIGAUS is essential to be able to continue with our projects”, said José Ángel Aibar, the President of Dravet Syndrome Foundation, one of the entities with which the collaboration agreement has been renewed for the fifth consecutive year. The Foundation works to support children and their families suffering from this rare disease that manifests itself at a very early age, and is characterised by prolonged seizures, behavioural and autistic spectrum disorders and delayed motor and language development, among other symptoms. SIGAUS’ contribution will allow them to continue with their respite programmes for caregivers, psychosocial care for siblings of people with the syndrome, and programmes relating to studies and research into this disease.

The signing ceremony for this new collaboration agreement also served to revalidate the support to two more social organisations, APADIS and ‘Porque Viven’ Foundation. SIGAUS held a face-to-face meeting with them to learn about the projects in which they are currently working for the continuous improvement of the quality of life of the people they serve and their families, after two years in which it has not been possible due to the pandemic.

“The collaboration of companies and private entities such as SIGAUS, greatly strengthen our mission, because they enable us to generate and continue developing projects that would otherwise be very difficult to carry out. Their focus on supporting the most vulnerable makes it possible for us to work together and extend the advantages to these people at risk of exclusion in a very powerful way,” said Miguel Angel Jimenez, Managing Director of APADIS, which works to improve the development and independence of people with disabilities in their daily lives and actively support their families.

SIGAUS will contribute 18,000 Euro to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, Apadis and ‘Porque Viven’ Foundation, which will be used to improve the quality of life of sick children and people with disabilities.

A long-term commitment

The 18,000 Euro contribution will help these organisations continue with their support activities and projects, as is the case of ‘Porque Viven’, which will start in early 2023 the construction of the first comprehensive paediatric palliative care centre in Spain, the most ambitious project to date of this organisation focused on supporting this type of care services for sick children. It will be located in Madrid and will provide Day Centre care services, respite rooms and areas for caregivers and families of minors from all over Spain, physiotherapy and treatment rooms, and a training centre for paediatric palliative care specialists, such as doctors, nurses and psychologists, among other specialities.

“This is the fifth year that SIGAUS has supported the work of this Foundation and for us, it is fundamental to continue supporting families and children with incurable diseases. This support will enable us to carry out projects such as, for example, this new paediatric palliative care centre, a sustainable and technologically-advanced building, with remote medical systems to be able to treat this group, becoming a centre of reference, replicable anywhere in Spain”, explained the Foundation’s President, Thomas Nuño during the meeting with SIGAUS.

“This is a long-term commitment”, emphasised the President of SIGAUS, Buenaventura González del Campo, who pointed out that, in his opinion, it is the only way to really improve the quality of life of these groups at risk and thus achieve a positive impact on a social level, in line with the SIGAUS’ work in terms of caring for the environment.
