SIGAUS reconfirms its support of environmental reporting with its participation in the XIII National Congress of APIA

The General Director of SIGAUS, Eduardo de Lecea, and representatives of the new Board of Directors of the APIA (Association of Environmental Reporters), appointed last May, with María García as the new President, signed a Collaboration Agreement at the Organisation’s new headquarters to support the XIII Edition of the National Congress of Environmental Reporting, which this year will be held in Madrid on November 27 and 28, with biodiversity, communication and awareness as the main topics. The 2019 edition of this Congress will also serve to commemorate the 25th anniversary of APIA.

SIGAUS will, for the third consecutive year, support the organisation of a new gathering of the APIA, the Association of Environmental Reporters: the XIII Edition of its National Congress, one of the main events in this sector that, every two years, brings together specialised reporters, environmentalists, forest engineers, environmental educators and others, with the aim of seeking and fostering debate, exchanging opinions and, above all, drawing conclusions and searching for solutions related to the leading topics in environmental communication.

In this sense, during the event, Eduardo de Lecea referred to the clear support that SIGAUS has shown over the years for this group, that of environmental reporters, and for the promotion of environmental awareness and information as essential tools to carry out their work of managing waste, such as industrial waste oil. “Without this key stakeholder, it would not be possible for us to reach society with our messages, a society that must be increasingly trained and informed in this area”, explains the Director General of SIGAUS.

APIA expressed their thanks to Organisations like SIGAUS, for “acknowledging and highlighting the importance of this profession for the development of an environmental and sustainable conscience in order to preserve the environment and natural resources”.

From APIA, their new President, María García de la Fuente, who was joined by the Secretary of the Association, Luis Guijarro, expressed her gratitude to these types of organisations that, like SIGAUS, “acknowledge and highlight the importance of this profession for the development of an environmental and sustainable conscience in order to preserve the environment and natural resources”.

The Galician writer and journalist, Manuel Rivas, will be in charge of the opening session of the Congress, followed by different plenary sessions and round tables that will address, over two days, the concept of biodiversity, the way in which the importance of its preservation is communicated, and also that of forests and other natural spaces.

Likewise, they will analyse other issues relating to consumption and food, the economic value of ecosystems and their biological use, or threatened species, all from the perspective of environmental awareness and the use of both traditional channels as well as digital and social networks.

Participating experts and speakers, as is the case of SIGAUS, will present their experiences in this regard and the ways they are working to reach their target audiences, as well as the evolution of environmental communication in the last 25 years.
