With the plantation of Collado Villalba there are already 5,000 trees that grow in the Community of Madrid thanks to the contribution of SIGAUS and the citizens who have participated in the different campaigns that have been organized since 2012.

This new urban forest will contain a plot measuring 54,000 m2 located in the Romacalderas Park and another of 2,200 m2situated in Calle Prado Manzano and along the roadway that leads to the municipality of Moralzarzal. Both green areas, which are equipped with spaces for children to play in, will house 1,000 trees of different species of leafy and conifer varieties.

The planting of this new ‘SIGAUS Forest’ will take place this spring, with SIGAUS overseeing both the planting, as well as the installation of the irrigation network, connected to the municipal network, for its maintenance in the first year.

This new green area in Collado Villalba is jointed to the already existing ‘SIGAUS Forests’ in the Madrid towns of Alcobendas, Majadahonda, Las Rozas, Coslada and Leganés where, since 2012, SIGAUS has fostered initiatives to contribute to the struggle against CO2emissions with the creation of urban forests that are already planted in these localities, and whose 5,000 trees were labelled with the names of the winners of the respective contests on the internet.
