In keeping with its unswerving policy of backing initiatives that inform and raise awareness on environmental and sustainable development issues, SIGAUS will once again participate in the upcoming CONAMA, the Spanish Environmental Congress scheduled for 21–24 November in Madrid, which will also mark the CONAMA Foundation’s 30th anniversary. Looking ahead, SIGAUS Chairman Buenaventura González del Campo met with CONAMA Foundation Chairman Gonzalo Echagüe to sign a new partnership agreement with a view to promoting this essential event in the environmental sector.
From its 10 m2 stand at the Conference exhibition hall, SIGAUS will inform visitors about its work and the importance of correctly managing used industrial oils. The company will also partake in a number of debates and seminars scheduled over the four-day conference concerning the sector’s most pressing issues identified through a public consultation that, to date, has already received over 300 proposals and ideas.

The Conference will also be a strategic forum hosting a convergence of numerous experts in different areas of sustainability, including energy, climate change, mobility, biodiversity, water, waste and the circular economy. There is a need to address the challenges that the sector will soon face in light of recent legislative developments, such as the Spanish Waste and Contaminated Land Act to foster a circular economy and the Royal Decree on Packaging and Packaging Waste, set to enter into force in the coming months, which extends the responsibilities of manufacturers for how commercial and industrial packaging are managed.
"For us, CONAMA represents an indispensable event where we can come together to reflect and debate on crucial environmental issues. We value not only the opportunity to showcase our work, but also the organisation's drive to pull together agents from a range of sectors and give them forums for discussion, collaboration and initiatives in the field of sustainability, which, thanks to CONAMA, acquire notoriety and prospects of success that they might not otherwise have", explained SIGAUS Managing Director Eduardo de Lecea, who was also present at the signing ceremony.
