SIGAUS, for a fifth time, will support the gathering of the Association of Environmental Information Journalists, which will hold its National Conference in November. Under the motto ‘Water Counts’, the conference will address various topics related to water resources, from coastal and maritime development to water conflicts, the agri-food model and the oceans, among others.
It is one of the main events in this sector that, every two years, brings together specialised reporters, environmentalists, forest engineers, environmental educators and others, with the aim of seeking and fostering debate, exchanging opinions and, above all, drawing conclusions and searching for solutions related to the leading topics in environmental communication.
The conference will feature different case studies, including those involving SIGAUS and GENCI, highlighting the effectiveness of management models for used industrial oils and commercial and industrial packaging waste to ensure that the environment is free of this waste. This is a particularly important task in areas near water resources, such as rivers or reservoirs—sensitive areas where managing waste is especially crucial.

“This partnership is a great opportunity as it allows us to promote the management work we do at SIGAUS, and now also at GENCI”, commented Ainhöa Lizarbe, Manager of Institutional Relations and Communication at SIGAUS and GENCI. “The rigour required when disseminating this information makes this partnership essential to share our expertise and make it available to everyone.”
For her part, María García, Chairwoman of APIA, pointed out that “for APIA, it is an honour to renew this partnership agreement, which has now added GENCI, to support environmental journalism and communication, and on this occasion to address such an important issue as water and drought, which affects us greatly.”
The opening session of the conference will be given by Teresa Ribera, Third Vice-President and Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, followed by different plenary sessions and round tables that will address, over two days, various topics related to water.
