SIGAUS attends the BIEMH to raise awareness among industries about the proper management of waste oil

The organisation took part in the 33rd edition of the BIENMH (Bienal de Máquina-Herramienta de Bilbao), which brought together nearly 40,000 professionals from 65 countries, to inform the industrial sector about its work in the management of waste oil and the role of these companies in the circular economy of industrial oils. SIGAUS shared its stand with GENCI, which informed visitors about the regulations affecting industrial and commercial packaging.

Over the course of a week, the 33rd edition of the BIEMH has established itself as one of the leading international gatherings for advanced manufacturing, and the third most important machine tool trade fair in Europe.

In this context, SIGAUS once again took part in the event with a stand located in Hall 1, where it provided visitors with information on the management of waste oil in the industrial sector. This is one of the main sectors generating waste oil, with around 45,000 tonnes collected annually from more than 10,400 industrial facilities, in approximately 24,000 collection operations.

The organisation has highlighted both the vital role played by producers of this waste in ensuring its proper management, and the obligations that must be met by companies importing or manufacturing industrial oils or machinery containing such oils for sale in Spain.

At its stand, SIGAUS has highlighted the vital role played by producers of used oil in ensuring its proper management.

The stand also incorporated AI-based technology to present this information to the public in an educational manner. Through an interactive screen featuring videos starring animated characters from the SIGAUS universe, visitors were able to learn about aspects such as the treatments that enable waste oil to be transformed into new products, the environmental benefits of its proper management, and the characteristics of new-generation lubricants.

SIGAUS was also joined at its stand by GENCI, the SEPRS for the management of industrial and commercial packaging, which draws on the organisation’s expertise. This joint space also served to inform visitors about the obligations arising from the packaging regulations that came into force in 2025 and which affect companies marketing packaged products in the industrial sector, amongst many others. These obligations include the financing of the management of packaging waste placed on the market, which they can do through GENCI’s services.

The BIEMH 2026 brought together 1,543 exhibiting companies from 34 countries across its six halls, showcasing over 3,350 products and innovations aimed at sectors including rail, shipbuilding, oil & gas, aerospace, automotive, capital goods, defence, electronics, energy and steel.
