SIGAUS returns to the BIEMH after four years
The Organisation was present at the 31st edition of the International Machine Tool Biennial Exhibition in Bilbao, a key event for manufacturing technologies and Industry 4.0, which attracted more than 35,000 visitors from 52 countries. The SIGAUS stand provided first-hand information on the management of used oil in the industrial sector to all professionals attending this major event.

Given that the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the pandemic, SIGAUS has once again participated in this industrial event, considered the third most important in Europe, where visitors were able to learn first-hand about the latest developments in machinery, tools, components and accessories, automation, metrology, as well as quality control, among other areas.
From its stand located in Hall 1, SIGAUS informed visitors, using different explanatory and audiovisual materials, about the management of used oil in the industrial sector; from the key role played by the companies that produce this waste in ensuring that it is properly managed, to the obligations that organisations that import or manufacture industrial oils or machinery containing oils are obliged to assume.
Visitors were also able to learn the main figures on the management of used oil in the industry, one of the leading sectors in the generation of this polluting waste: 45,000 tons are collected annually across 10,400 industries through 24,000 collection operations. These figures support the essential work carried out by SIGAUS in this sector.
The SIGAUS stand also highlighted the significant environmental and economic benefits that are achieved every year thanks to the correct management of used oil by the System, including saving more than 25 million barrels of oil, more than 1,000 GWh of energy and avoiding the emission of more than 80,000 tons of CO2. All these savings are achieved thanks to the production of new lubricants and fuel oil through the treatment of waste oil, compared to that produced through oil refining.

A benchmark event in the industrial sector
Four years after it was last held, the BIEMH has once again received extensive support from the industry sector, with the participation of 1,400 exhibiting companies from 28 countries, as well as more than 35,000 visitors from a total of 52 countries, including Portugal, Germany, Italy, France, Argentina, the Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, United Kingdom, India, USA, Colombia, Finland, Switzerland and Turkey, among others.
The sectors that attracted most interest during the meeting were process and manufacturing automation, accessories and components for machine tools, tools, additive manufacturing and 3D printing, cutting machine tools, handling of parts and tools, as well as digitalisation.
The event was also attended by representatives of different institutions, such as the Lehendakari, Íñigo Urkullu, who inaugurated the event, and other members of the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Bilbao City Council and the Ministry of Industry.
